Noblesse Oblige is the ironic title of a series of photographs by me and photographer Federico Mozzano. The work’s theme is the alienation of contemporary human being depicted through 1940’s style portraits of people staring at their phones, tablets and other electronic devices.
We took inspiration from the work of 1940’s photographer Arturo Ghergo, studied his pictures, the set up, lighting, makeup, styling and we recreated the very atmosphere of those shots. In every picture we thought about the right device to make the protagonist interact with, like he or she had a life story with. We shooted all photographs in analogue medium and large format film.
